UKS to
present its eLearning Blended Model for Higher Education at the ICOET 2008
Conference
March 2 2008
UKS, the Middle East’s leading
learning solutions enabler, announces it's participation at the International
Conference of Educational Technology 2008 (ICOET) Conference to be held at the
Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Oman on March 3 – 5, 2008.
The International Conference on Educational Technology (ICOET) aims to provide
an academic platform for sharing ideas, experiences and research relevant to the
fields of e-learning, and open and distance education. Everyone from Oman, the
Gulf and beyond will be participating in this conference as efforts continue to
make e-learning and educational technology a more significant part of Higher
Education in Oman.
Mr. Carlos Garcia will be presenting a paper at the conference titled Training
University Faculty on Blended Model Educational Techniques. UKS has been
conducting a series of faculty training workshops on blended education. These
interactive workshops address the best practices UKS has gathered under the
title of “The UKS Blended Model of Education” and cover the implementation of
techniques such as Case Based Learning, Problem Based Learning and Project Based
Learning supported by Web 2.0 tools. This paper will address the experiences UKS
has had working with university faculty in the adoption of these modern
techniques.
“The UKS approach to blended learning resonates very well with academic
audiences because it addresses the growing interest in adopting modern
educational technologies and the frustration of not having a well defined
process to adopt such technologies”, said Carlos Garcia, manger of the Higher
Education Division of UKS.
In addition to its participation at the conference, UKS, in cooperation with its
local partner in Oman, Matrix Information Technology will be holding a
pre-conference workshop titled The UKS Blended Model of Education -
Implementation of a Blended Model of Education Delivery in Higher Education on
March 2nd, 2008.
UKS consultants will present attendees with a detailed walkthrough of the steps
necessary for the successful adoption and implementation of a blended model of
education in a university environment. The topics to be covered include: Hybrid
Education Principles, Collaborative Learning, Use of online materials,
Instructor Role in Blended Education, Use of Case Studies and Group Problems,
Use of Student Projects and Special tools (LMS / Podcasting / Web 2.0 / Virtual
Reality).
